The Message as Mantra
Staying on Message
In the film The Princess Bride, the character Inigo Montoya has a simple message. “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die”. That is all he needs to remember and that message is the animating force that propels him toward the fulfillment of his mission.
What is your message stated simply, clearly and purposefully? Even if you say nothing more than that simple message, and repeat it three times with conviction to your audience, you will go along way toward accomplishing the first goals of a presentation: Reach your Audience (impression, reach, and frequency) and transform their thinking (they now have new information that they can incorporate into their decision making.) They killed your father. They must now prepare to die.
Let the message take over. Your job is simply to present it to the audience and let it do its work.
